Take Up Your Cross

Pastor G’s powerful message confronts us with one of the most challenging aspects of our faith journey: the art of surrender. Drawing from Matthew 16:24-26, we're invited to explore what it truly means to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Christ. The central question pierces through our comfortable Christianity: What or who have we placed on the throne next to God? The message reminds us that God plus anything equals idolatry, and our Heavenly Father is too big to share His throne with anyone or anything. We're challenged to examine whether we're surrendering voluntarily through spiritual maturity and obedience, or whether we're waiting for desperate circumstances—what's described as a 'God whooping'—to force our hands. The beautiful yet convicting truth is that Jesus nailed His hands to the cross so we could have the choice to lift ours in surrender. While He had no choice in His sacrifice, we have the daily choice to take our hands off our circumstances, relationships, finances, and futures, trusting Him completely. This isn't just about giving up our sins; it's about surrendering our identities, our control, and even the good things we've built our lives around. The journey to Mount Calvary teaches us that true discipleship costs us everything we think we own, but gains us everything we truly need.
